Búrfellsgjá Crater

Our first stop is Hamarinn (The Cliff), a picturesque hill in Hafnarfjörður offering stunning views of the capital area. A leisurely walk to a viewpoint awaits, allowing you to capture beautiful photographs. Continuing on to Búrfellsgjá formed in a single volcanic eruption just over eight thousand years ago. The hike to Búrfellsgjá is just over an hour back and forth, but it is relatively easy in summer. The hiking trail is along paths; however, the tracks are stony in some areas, and the slopes of Mt. Búrfell are gravel slopes, so trekking poles can be helpful. There are several fissures in Búrfellsgjá; hence caution is advised when they become covered by snow.

After the hike, we will wind down with light yoga stretches in the beautiful Heiðmörk forest.

The tour ends at one of the city’s many public pools, where participants can bathe and enjoy the warm water before being returned to their designated stop.
