Mt. Helgafell
Our first stop is Hamarinn (The Cliff), a picturesque hill in Hafnarfjörður offering stunning views of the capital area. A leisurely walk to a viewpoint awaits, allowing you to capture beautiful photographs.
Next, we will hike to the top of Mount Helgafell. Helgafell, with its accessible and gentle trail, is a top-rated hiking destination suitable for hikers of all levels, including families with young children. The ascent commences at Kaldárbotnar fresh-water reservoir. As you embark on this hike, you'll encounter a mesmerising landscape with captivating lava formations that twist and turn into fascinating shapes. Although standing at a modest height of only 338 meters (1,300 feet), the panoramic view that awaits you at the top is truly breathtaking. From this vantage point, you'll be treated to a picture-perfect vista encompassing Reykjavík, the sparkling Flaxaflói Bay, the scenic Reykjanes Peninsula with its frequent volcanic eruptions, and, of course, the charming town of Hafnarfjörður. At the top of Helgafell, we will take a well-deserved break and relish a delightful Icelandic snack of flatbread and tea or coffee, replenishing your energy for the remainder of the journey. The hike to the top and back down is approximately 2 hours. After the hike, we will wind down with light yoga stretches in the foothills of the mountain.
The tour ends at one of the city’s many public pools, where participants can bathe and enjoy the warm water before being returned to their designated stop.
